The exhbition Art of Innovation is part of a partnership between the Science Museum and the BBC and will be accompanied by a radio mini-series of 20 episodes and a book. Together the exhibition, book and radio series hopes to redefine the relationship between culture, art and science, casting innovation in a new light by exploring how artists and scientists have interacted at key historical moments. By viewing technological and scientific change through the lens of culture, Art of Innovation will show how the sciences and the arts are not only in continual dialogue, but have been symbiotic and antagonistic in their relationship to revolutionary ideas and progress.
Moore's Ideas for Stringed Figure Sculptures, 1937, forms part of the exhibition examining the artistic response to mathematical string models in the 1930s, as well as the impact of the collections at the Science Museum on British artists.
