2019 Woking, RHS Garden Wisley, Sculpture at Wisley 2019
30 May 2019 - 01 December 2019
An exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture, Sculpture at Wisley 2019 showcases the work of six seminal artists set against the backdrop of beautifully cultivated gardens and iconic horticulture. Among the four bronze sculptures by Moore on display is Sheep Piece, 1971-72 (LH 627 cast 0), which has only been exhibited away from Henry Moore Studios & Gardens once before.
Curated by noted sculptor Susan Bacon, the sculptures have been carefully located throughout the 240-acre garden. Lady Bacon explains: 'Each piece of sculpture we have chosen connects to the landscape and becomes part of it. Sited within the ever-changing long views of Wisley, these huge pieces affect that change as well as opening the eye to see both the gardens and the sculpture in a different way'.
