The effect of using white wax crayon under a watercolour wash is clearly visible in the lowest section of this drawing. As with HMF 1244, Moore referred to earlier, smaller sketches for inspiration - for example HMF 1269, where the sketch far left of the third row down has strong links with the form left in the bottom line here.
