for terrible nor consoling thoughts, /
but of vague + wistful speculation.” – But mystic / as M.A was, even to the verge of quietism, drama / chimes forth premeninently [sic] throughout his career, / analysis one does not really require when
touching / the heart of the man
himself, the cardinal theme / of his
emotion; the embodiment of his transcendant [sic] / art. He was the most
dramatic of Italian sculptors, / + he
was also the last survivor of the great generation.
