More Information

Notebook No.5 p.15. This drawing of a late 2nd Century BC Etruscan figure of a young boy, the so-called 'Putto Graziani' in the Museo Etrusco Gregoriano in the Vatican, was done from an Alinari photograph which Moore probably bought when he was in Italy. By adding breasts and thickening the hips and thighs, Moore has transformed the boy's figure into that of a woman.
