More Information

First Shelter Sketchbook p.62. In all three sketches the human figures dominate the architecture against which they are set. The composition of the section upper left is reminiscent of Tintoretto's Exhumation of the Body of St Mark in the Accademia, Venice, which Moore is likely to have seen in 1925.
