More InformationFrom an unidentified sketchbook. Moore admired and was familiar with the work of Giovanni Pisano, see HMF 57-59(1). This 'memory' was probably from one of the figures with elongated necks and downward gaze carved by Pisano c.1284 for the façade of Siena Cathedral.
