Text discusses Moore's preoccupation with the Mother and Child theme, as well as the influence of African art in the stylised heads of the women. Includes comparative image of Leonardo Da Vinci work, The Virgin and Child with Saint Anne and the Infant Saint John the Baptist, circa 1499-1500.
Lot 34. Falling Warrior, 1956-57 (LH 405, cast 2) illust. and accompanying text. Text discusses Moore's Greek influence in this sculpture, and includes comparative images of a Dying Warrior sculpture from the temple of Aphaia on Aegina, as well as Warrior with Shield, 1953-54 (LH 360).

Sale in connection with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Ark, and Sotheby's. Proceeds from the sale were for enabling the rollout of Ark's Mathematics Mastery programme across the UK to schools most in need.
