Henry Moore became a member of The London Group in 1930, and participated in this unusual open-air exhibition amongst the rooftop gardens of the fashionable London department store, Selfridges & Co.

Sixty-one sculptures were exhibited amongst the terraced pathways and ponds, which at the time also featured a miniature golf course and café, and hosted fashion shows. Amongst the other exhibitors were a number of Moore's friends and contemporaries, including Barbara Hepworth, John Skeaping, Frank Dobson and Jacob Epstein.

Moore included three works in the show, which are listed as follows in the catalogue:

According to the London Group's archivist, "a debit sum of £105 is recorded in the Accounts ledger for, “Damage Selfridge a/c Moore”". (The London Group: A History 1913-2013, David Redfern, 2013). What was damaged, or by whom, is unclear.
