Sacheverell Sitwell/Valse/des Fleurs/A Day in St Petersburg/and a Ball at the Winter Palace/in 1868/York/The Fairfax Press/1980

Published as a book in deluxe and standard editions containing a 'prose fantasy' in English by Sacheverell Sitwell, an introduction by the publisher and two wood engravings by Reynolds Stone, one on the title page and the other as a tail-piece on p.91. The deluxe edition is accompanied by CGM 537 printed on T.H. Saunders paper 442 x 302mm, contained in an envelope of thin grey card with a white label mounted on the flap: 'Lithograph by Henry Moore/to accompany/Sacheverell Sitwell's 'Valse des Fleurs'/Published by Fairfax Press 1980/Print [edition number in ink]

260 x 180mm: 96 numbered pages of Zerkall paper in one signature of 12 and twelve of 8. The deluxe edition is quarter-bound in cream leather, the standard in cloth with the title blocked in gold on the spine. The endpapers were reproduced from a Henry Moore drawing HMF 79(40/41). The books are contained in slipcases with paper panels on back and front with a reproduction of two drawings HMF 79(44) (front) and HMF 79(43) (back).

The edition of 400 copies, numbered in ballpoint pen on p.[93], comprises:

20 deluxe copies numbered I to XX signed in ink by the author and the artist with CGM 537 numbered I/XX to XX/XX

40 deluxe copies numbered XXI to LX signed in ink by the author and the artist

340 standard copies numbered 61 to 400

There are also 30 deluxe HC copies marked HC 1 to HC 30 with CGM 537 numbered HC 1/30 to HC 30/30

Text set in Monotype Bell and printed letterpress on Zerkall Edelweiss Rauh mould-made paper by Skelton's Press Ltd, Wellingborough.

The endpapers and slipcase panels were also printed by Skelton's Press, as was the background for CGM 537, which was printed by Curwen Prints Ltd, London.
