More InformationSketchbook 1928: West Wind Relief p.(41).The overlay on the recto depicts three flying figures, drawn in chalk and pencil under ink wash. That on the verso shows the upper half of a female figure drawn in pencil, crayon and pen and ink brushed over with ink wash, and some abstract sketches in crayon. The reference to Masaccio concerns the central panel of the Pisa polyptych, the 'Madonna and Child with Angels' of 1426 (in the National Gallery, London since 1916).
