More InformationRough-hewn blocks of stone, waiting to be carved, were placed upright around Moore's garden at Burcroft and may have provided the inspiration for this drawing. Its original owner, Geoffrey Grigson commented in his book (1943) on Moore's use of colour: ' a free personal, expressive colour'.
