The drawing just above the signature has links with Head 1937 LH 177, whilst that at the extreme right of the top line of the verso seems to look ahead to Reclining Figure 1939 LH 208. The two sketches of heads at lower right are similar to those on the bottom row of the verso of HMF 1189. The drawing in the centre on the recto is the definitive study for Small Reclining Figure c.1935 LH 161a.
