Henry Moore Catalogue Raisonné: 1960-1969

The works digitised in this instalment were made between 1960 and 1969. The fact that there are well over a hundred and fifty sculptures, including a significant number of large bronzes and as many important works in marble – in itself a new development – shows there was no decrease in Moore’s creative energy.

As Alan Bowness notes in the printed version of Henry Moore: Sculpture and Drawings, Volume 4, during this period Moore was ‘exploiting all the possibilities of working on a grand scale that were now open to him as a successful sculptor’. This was also the decade that he made the first knife-edge figures, such as Knife Edge Two Piece (illustrated), the first large compact sculpture, Locking Piece, as well as introducing a number of completely new forms into his work, some body-related, some animal-derived, and other’s abstract.

As with previous instalments of the online catalogue raisonné, this information has been taken directly from the Henry Moore Foundation’s database of known works by the artist, and includes several works that have not been published in the printed catalogue raisonné.
