This drawing is on a fragment of a sketchbook page dating from the mid-1930s; the inscription, listing materials for carving and pencilled measurements, probably refers to carvings made between 1934 and 1937. Moore carved three works in Ancaster stone during this period, LH 139 of 1934; LH 165, 1936; LH 176, 1937.
