The Lie of the Land explores the way British landscape has been radically transformed through changing attitudes to free time, culture and leisure. It manifests a playful and thoughtful context for the city of Milton Keynes, which was designed to provide ideal living conditions for 250,000 people.

Featuring works by over 85 artists, designers and architects from JMW Turner and Joseph Paxton to Rachel Whiteread and Yinka Shonibare CBE, with new commisions including City Club by Gareth Jones and Nils Norman. Moore's Working Model for Reclining Figure Festival is emblematic of his role as a civic sculptor engaged with the democratisation of art and urban regeneration.
