More Information
The formation of Unit One was first announced to the public in the correspondence columns of The Times by Paul Nash on 12th June 1933, although preliminary discussions had been held since at least the early autumn of the previous year. The group's activities were already well reported in the London press by the latter part of 1933, and when the Unit One exhibition opened at the Mayor Gallery in 1934, coincident with the publication of the book, it was very widely reviewed. All three works which Moore showed at the Mayor Gallery exhibition have connections with surrealism.
