More InformationWoven at West Dean College, Chichester.
The last of the tapestries woven at West DeanCollege, Chichester, this is an outstanding example of the weavers’ skill in adhering to the character of the drawing. Based on a page from a sketchbook in which Moore recorded his impressions of the shelterers in the Underground during the Second World War, it conveys his newly explored technique of using wax crayons to provide a ‘resist’ for watercolour.
