Disbanded spiral-bound sketchbook of white medium-weight wove paper 251 x 178 mm, from which forty-one drawings have been identified. No attempt has been made to put these in order. Many of the sketches were squared up for enlargement, with precise measurements in inches for the size of the finished drawing; these figures have not been included as inscriptions. In this notebook there are many inscriptions referring to 'pit notebook' and 'other' or 'old notebook'; these are respectively Coalmining Notebook A 1941-42 and Coalmining Subjects Sketchbook 1942.
