Although there is no known extant drawing for Zigzag, Moore’s vibrant orange-red design for the textile was reproduced on the cover of the Institute of Contemporary Arts catalogue Painting into Textiles. This catalogue was distributed as an insert in the 1953 No.11 issue of The Ambassador: The British Export Magazine for Textiles and Fashions, a trade magazine run by Hans and Elspeth Juda, who helped organise the exhibition. The simplicity of the design lent itself to being printed in the flatbed screen process rather than by hand (see TEX 22). Henry and Irina Moore had this fabric made up in grey-brown, black, rust and white as both curtains and bedspreads for their home, Hoglands.
