More InformationMoore drew Shakespeare's 'Seven Ages of Man', as described in Jaques' speech in Act II, scene vii of As You Like It, for a portfolio of lithographs published in 1982. He did the title page for the portfolio at the back of Sketchbook 1982-83, see HMF 82(129a). In this poignant scene, Moore seems to have depicted himself with his two walking-sticks, making his painful way towards his armchair. His own horn-rimmed spectacles and the fringe of hair at the back of his head are accurately represented here. The clock is at ten past midnight.
