More InformationCoalmining Notebook A p.9. The central figure on the recto recalls Masaccio's fresco The Tribute Money in the Brancacci chapel of S. Maria del Carmine, Florence. Moore visited the chapel daily during his time in Florence in 1925, and would have become familiar with the crouching figure of St Peter, prising open the fish's mouth to extract the tribute money.
