More Information

These studies, each in their individual space, are eloquent testimony of Moore's assertion that of the three basic poses of the human body, the reclining figure allows the most variation. Every sketch is imbued with vitality and tension, and an awareness of the bony structure underlying drapery and flesh that permits a human to support its weight on forearm, buttocks and feet. One of the most unusual poses is that of the third figure down on the right.
