More Information

The paper, noted by Wilkinson (1984) as 'paper from sketchbook', appears to be from the same sketchbook as HMF 1391 and 1391a; all three sheets have two punched holes close to one side. The definitive sketch for the Hornton stone Recumbent Figure 1938 (LH 191) is at upper left. Moore began drawing this in pencil and then changed to black crayon in order to alter some lines or enhance others. See comment on HMF 1337.
