It is conceivable that Moore was here considering Lubetkin's request (see HMF 1332), since the lower part of the page shows reclining figures set in a segment of a circle representing the alcove for which the sculpture was intended. The reclining figure upper left has links with Recumbent Figure 1938 (LH 191), and the third sketch down in the right-hand column seems to presage Stringed Figure 1939 (LH 206).
