More InformationThe cavern-like drapery around the knees of the mother prefigures Moore's use of drapery in his 1940-41 Shelter drawings. Moore pencilled the initials E.B. on the verso of this drawing, indicating that it may have been intended for Edward Bawden or Edward Burra, both of whom were contemporaries at the Royal College of Art and exhibited with him in 1932.
