Moore's notes on the verso giving his proposed schedule of work for the Christmas period 1930-31, in which Christmas Day fell on a Thursday, appear to refer to four sculptures, three of which were completed by the end of 1930: Mother and Child LH 83 in Ham Hill stone, Reclining Figure LH 84 in Hornton stone, and Reclining Figure, probably LH 94 in Ancaster stone. The fourth, to which the word 'Burgundy' relates, is Mother and Child LH 100, carved early in 1931. Although it is possible that the drawings on the recto were also done at this time, their similarity in style and content with drawings of 1932 makes it more likely that Moore drew them on the back of notes made a year or more earlier.
