The discrepancy between the dating of this drawing and the very similar HMF 1045, both of which appear to have been signed at the time of completion, may be explained by the fact that Moore was working on them at the very end of 1933 and the beginning of 1934. Alternatively, he may have left the drawing lying around in his studio and have signed it (and HMF 1050) the following year.
