More Information
Notebook No.3 p.209. No source has been found for the head of the serpent on the right, but Moore called it 'a bit Mexican'. The woman at lower right on the verso may be linked to a 1927 terracotta Woman Combing her Hair, LH 40. 'Hopton Wood' in the inscription is a stone in which Moore carved three early works, LH 19, 22 and 23.
