The upper half of this figure is reminiscent of the pose of Adam in Masaccio's Expulsion from the Garden of Eden in the Brancacci Chapel, Santa Maria del Carmine, Florence. Moore did not visit Florence until 1925 but could have known the fresco from reproductions. The sheet of paper has been cut down; part of an arm remains from the larger drawing.
