Red Notebook 1969-77 p.23. Both recto and verso were originally drawn in 1973 and used as the basis for the etching CGM 377 of 1974. They were reworked later, probably in 1977, when Moore was selecting subjects for the etchings and aquatints of The Reclining Figure album CGM 471-481. The verso was also a study for HMF 79(61), itself later the basis for the lithogrpah CGM 719. A number of pages in this notbook are inscribed Alistair, referring to Alistair Grant, Professor of Printmaking at the Royal Collage of Art, London, and co-author of the four-volume catalogue raisonne of Moore's graphic work, who was involved in the proofing of CGM 471-481.
