More Information

This large show at the Warren Gallery, Maddox Street, London was Moore's first solo exhibition, and included 42 Sculptures and 51 Drawings made by the artist between 1922 and 1928. Moore attracted widespread attention from the press, not all of it positive: "by today's standards it was an almost ideal balance of praise, vituperation and controversy" (Berthoud, The Life of Henry Moore, De La Mare, 2003, p.88).

We have been able to tentatively identify a large majority of the sculptures exhibited, but as no photographs remain of the show, the drawings have been very difficult to match to a single work.
