More InformationExhibition review of 0005365, four years after Borsos had visited Moore at Much Hadham. Moore began carving his Reclining Figures as a young man, influenced by works in the British Museum, Paris and Italy. His sculptural inventiveness culminated in the Lincoln Center Reclining Figure, 1963-1965 bronze which is seen as his most dominant piece, and embodying a significance similar to that of the Pietà in Michelangelo's life. The Mother and Child works are symbols which penetrate the secrets of abstraction.
