He describes Moore's transformations of natural objects into sculptural form. "He needs a vocabulary of natural forms to substitute for certain forms of the human figure." The Evolution of Moore's Art is divided into seven groupings showing in turn the primitive influences the new-found human warmth the far more abstract language attributed to the influence of Picasso the opening out of the Reclining Figure the extension beyond the domain of the Reclining Figure the War Drawings and the naturalistic idiom.
