David Finn's text is packed with anecdotal accounts of the friendship between himself, Laura Finn, Irina and Henry Moore and of his sponsorship of Moore's art over 35 years. Finn describes his purchase of the maquette in 1958 and the first meeting with Moore, and subsequent visits on frequent trips to the London office of Ruder-Finn. Finn purchased further works from Moore, and from other sculptors. As The Eye Moves was David Finn's first book of Henry Moore sculptures (See 0004652) and subsequently David Finn travelled the world to photograph Moore's other works. He describes his approach to photographing the works, and some of the difficulties involved. Contacts are mentioned with Nobutaka Shikanai, William Hewitt, J. Irwin Miller and others. David Finn comments on the aesthetics of Henry Moore's works on public sites, and describes tape recordings of Moore prepared for Sculpture and Environment (I still have the recordings...") and meeting Kenneth Clark who wrote the introduction and collaborated with Finn on the books which Moore enjoyed seeing.
