The introduction notes Moore's late style as dating from around 1960, and the most original and challenging sculpture being produced anywhere in the world" in the following 15 years. The work has seen a consolidation since 1973 drawing together "the threads of a long and various career" with the natural flow of sculptural ideas. Bowness discusses briefly a few of the works which stand out noting the large commissions the marble carvings and the continuation of the Reclining Figure and other themes."
