Ali raises the issue of uncertain ownership. Minister for Culture states he advised Christie's to be duely concerned with the provenance of the sculpture before deciding whether or not to delay the auction of the work in early 2013. MP asks for Government support to ensure this cast is not allowed to leave the UK. Vaizey refers to Museums Association standards for the disposal of council collections.
