Published as a book in deluxe and standard editions with a text in English by W. J. Strachan, selected bibliography, a list of plates and an index, plus157 illustrations in black and white and 21 in colour of animal works by Henry Moore with comparative illustrations by other artists. The deluxe edition contains CGM 646 or 647.

265 x 230mm: 176 numbered pages in eleven signatures of 16. The deluxe edition is bound in buff cloth-covered boards with the title blocked in gold on the spine, contained in a buff cloth-covered slipcase. Inside the front cover is a printed bookplate attached to the endpaper giving the title of the etching and details of publication. Each etching, printed on Arches 260 x 219mm, embossed with the printer's blind stamp, is contained in a paper folder with its title on the front and edition and publishers' imprint (Aurum Press Ltd or Bernard Jacobson Ltd) on the back. The standard edition is bound in yellow cloth with blue blocking on the spine, in a laminated paper dust jacket with the title and a reproduction of Elephant 1982 HMF 82(191) on the front.

The deluxe edition of 102 copies, numbered in pencil on the printed bookplate, comprises:

51 copies numbered 1/50 to 50/50 and I/XX with CGM 646 similarly numbered

51 copies numbered 1/50 to 50/50 and I/XX with CGM 647 similarly numbered

All the prints are signed in pencil by the artist
