More Information
In a letter of 8 May 1968 Moore writes "This is the first of my truly stringed figures, it was made in 1937. The base part with its rounded mound is cut out of one piece of beechwood. The two forms on each side of the rounded mound are separable pieces fixed to the base. They are part of a beechwood shoe-tree I bought in the Caledonian Market" ... "I remember Naum Gabo visiting my studio very soon after I made this sculpture, and congratulating me upon it".
