Moore used to relate how, when he was in Italy in 1925 on a travelling scholarship, he went as often as possible to the Church of S. Maria del Carmine in Florence. There he visited the Brancacci Chapel which contained frescoes by Masaccio and Masolino, executed between 1425 and 1428.
