This presages Moore's two-, three- and four-part reclining figure sculptures in which the main elements - head and shoulders, abdomen, raised knees - are distinctly separate from each other. His first Two-Piece Reclining Figure (LH 457) was not realised until 1959. Hill Arches (LH 636) a four-piece sculpture, dates to 1973.
