Sketchbook 1928: West Wind Relief p.[33]. Moore used to say that there are three basic poses which the human figure can adopt - standing, sitting and reclining. The pose he considered capable of showing most variety was the reclining pose, where one arm and the top of the body and, on occasions, one leg could move more or less independently of the rest of the body.
