More Information

Graham Sutherland, the first owner of this drawing, was already teaching at Chelsea School of Art when Moore joined the staff in 1931. Thereafter their paths crossed frequently; for example, both contributed works to the International Surrealist Exhibition in June 1936, both became Official War Artists, and both accepted commissions for works in St Matthews Church, Northampton.
