More Information
As with HMF 1470, the cataloguer believes that Moore picked up a sheet of paper on which he had already drawn some years earlier. This belief is confirmed by the pencil sketches on the verso which are ideas for abstract sculptures; the fourth drawing from the top at left is connected with Bird and Egg (LH 152) of 1934. The pencil inscriptions confirm Moore's pre-occupation with 'abstractions' or 'abstract sculpture.' The later pen and ink drawings, with additional hatching in black crayon, echo the style of drawing in HMF 1470.
