More Information

This is the earliest known drawing by Moore. It was done in a friend's autograph book and was subsequently given to Wakefield. Moore's admiration for Turner's works lasted throughout his life. In 1982-83 he executed a series of seascapes and landscapes reminiscent of Turner's paintings in 'tinted steam', see for example HMF 82(241), 83(130).
