The verso of the backing board is inscribed Henry Moore/The Sculptor's Studio (not in artist's hand)/Drawing Standing Figure/9 guineas. In this study of Irina in the Hampstead studio, Moore has drawn some of his sculptures: on the left is Standing Woman 1926 (LH 33), which he later destroyed, to the right is Mask 1929 (LH 62), and below that is a small figure which may be the stone Seated Figure 1928 (LH 55), destroyed by bomb blast during the war.
