More Information
Notebook No.4 p.140. Moore told Wilkinson that these three sketches of his mother led to several later drawings of her (see HMF 443 verso, 486-491). Since these 1925 sketches are followed by others specifically related to Moore's presence in Italy, it would appear that he drew his mother from memory. Moore admitted to having felt homesick during the five months he spent travelling in Europe in 1925.
