The top figure is drawn over a fragment of a proof of CGM 175. At the end of 1971 or the beginning of the following year, Moore designed two posters for his Florence 1972 exhibition, incorporating collaged lettering and drawings of reclining figures with copies of Michelangelo's drawings of the Forte di Belvedere. The three figures in HMF 3445, cut-outs from the trials for the posters, were later stuck on a cream-tinted lithographic background. See also HMF 3446.
