See comments on HMF 79(105) ) and 79(109). A snake was one of the subjects Moore considered for the garden bench project; compare also LH 20, 45.

One of eight reworked photocopies from Moore's skectchbook.  See 79(105). The original of this drawing of two snakes intertwined appears below that of a female reclining nude (HMF 639 r).  In 1928 Moore was considering subjects for  garden reliefs; a snake was a possible idea. A carving entitled Head of a Serpent LH 45 dates from 1927.
