This drawing was originally made on one sheet of paper, side by side with HMF 2538, the two groups of figures being signed and dated 1949. Moore subsequently divided the drawing, dating this 1950. Though both were once erroneously titled ‘Study for Battersea Park Sculpture’, they are related to the ‘Imprisoned Statues’ of Prométhée.
